I first saw this amazing Peep Bunting over at Made and I just loved it. The directions look so simple. I knew I has to try this.
The main problem? It required a sewing machine... which I have. In fact I got it for christmas. I've just never used it! It got me thinking that I'd have to finally find the time to sit at the machine and start to use it.
After reviewing my ideas for Easter decor I changed the peep part to a carrot then followed her steps.
For my first time EVER using a sewing machine I'm happy with the results... but I definately need more practice.
Here's what you'll need.
Download my carrot template [or make one]
Sewing Machine
Pen/Pencil
Scissors
Orange Felt
Green Felt
[Patience]
First, I cut the stems off the carrot templates so I could make those green.
To cover our mantel I needed 20 carrots & stems. Trace 20 with the "front" pattern and 20 with the "back" pattern. I did not do this and my life would have been easier and my carrots would have looked much better.
Its a lot of tracing....
Sew all of your stems to your carrots [all 40 in my case]... this was time consuming for me but thats because I've never used a sewing machine before.
I just eyeballed the spot on each one.
Repeat, repeat, repeat... :)
Your work space will look like this... 1/2 way done!
Once all of the "back" carrots are done take your "front" carrots and sew the carrots together.
All done! Aren't they cute?
